WHAT WE DO
arch/FORM are a RIBA Chartered Practice, based in Charnwood, Leicestershire, covering the East Midlands.

We specialise in residential architecture, whether that be new homes, renovations, conversions or extensions.
Our sketches, 3D models and our carefully crafted technical drawings allow the realisation of bespoke buildings where every detail of your project is considered.
WE PROVIDE A CLEAR PROCESS FOR YOU
All projects and design briefs are different. However we pride ourselves on bringing clarity to the design process. Our approach always begins with you, the client. We love meeting people and collaborating closely as a project team to craft a space that works for you and your needs.
We find that the best architecture is developed in response to your everyday life. To provide this, our designs are functional, responsive and robust, but with refined detailing and an emphasis on natural and tactile materials.
WE LOVE TO SELECT NATURAL MATERIALS
At arch/FORM, we are passionate about the quality of craft, care and selection of the materials for our projects. As such we very much enjoy working with skilled craft and trades people, to provide you with the best outcome for your project.
We love working with a mixture of tactile and natural materials, combining them with natural light to enhance the spaces that we create for our clients.
OUR DESIGNS RESPOND TO THEIR CONTEXT
We carefully review and respond to the context of each project – the surrounding built and natural environment as well as any planning and technical constraints.
WE GUIDE YOU THROUGH EACH STAGE
Alongside our design and technical knowledge, our experience allows us to interrogate, refine and develop your project brief while remaining practical.
When the design has been developed, we are skilled at co-ordinating other consultants and specialists, anticipating issues and managing your build programme to ensure that your project stays on track.

ABOUT US
WILLIAM SHIELDS
B.A(Hons) M.Arch PG Cert RIBA
William co-founded arch/FORM in 2022 with a clear ambition: to create homes that are as thoughtful as they are beautifully designed. A Chartered Architect (ARB, RIBA) with over a decade of experience, he has worked on a wide range of projects including new homes, barn conversions, extensions and work to listed buildings.

What William enjoys most is collaborating closely with clients to shape spaces that truly reflect the way they want to live. His approach is personal and hands-on, ensuring your design is tailored, practical and unique to you and your family.

With a strong background in resolving complex construction details, William brings both creativity and technical know-how to every project, delivering high-quality solutions that balance vision with buildability.
STEPHANIE SHIELDS
Stephanie co-founded arch/FORM to bring a strong client-focused approach to the practice. Drawing on her background in management and client liaison, she oversees the day-to-day operations and is constantly developing how we deliver our services.

She has played a key role in shaping the client journey at arch/FORM, creating a suite of client focused guides and resources to help you feel informed and supported at every stage.
​
With a talent for organisation and clear communication, Stephanie ensures each project runs smoothly.
GIZMO
Gizmo is our much loved in-house parrot and a proud part of the arch/FORM team. She’s a regular presence in our studio and, although not involved in the design process, she may make her presence known during a phone call or video chat! She may not have any qualifications, but she has plenty of opinions!
