WHAT WE DO
arch/FORM are a RIBA Chartered Practice, based in Charnwood, Leicestershire, covering the East Midlands.
We specialise in residential architecture, whether that be new homes, renovations, conversions or extensions.
Our sketches, 3D models and our carefully crafted technical drawings allow the realisation of bespoke buildings where every detail of your project is considered.
WE PROVIDE A CLEAR PROCESS FOR YOU
All projects and design briefs are different. However we pride ourselves on bringing clarity to the design process. Our approach always begins with you, the client. We love meeting people and collaborating closely as a project team to craft a space that works for you and your needs.
We find that the best architecture is developed in response to your everyday life. To provide this, our designs are functional, responsive and robust, but with refined detailing and an emphasis on natural and tactile materials.
WE LOVE TO SELECT NATURAL MATERIALS
At arch/FORM, we are passionate about the quality of craft, care and selection of the materials for our projects. As such we very much enjoy working with skilled craft and trades people, to provide you with the best outcome for your project.
We love working with a mixture of tactile and natural materials, combining them with natural light to enhance the spaces that we create for our clients.
OUR DESIGNS RESPOND TO THEIR CONTEXT
We carefully review and respond to the context of each project – the surrounding built and natural environment as well as any planning and technical constraints.
WE GUIDE YOU THROUGH EACH STAGE
Alongside our design and technical knowledge, our experience allows us to interrogate, refine and develop your project brief while remaining practical.
When the design has been developed, we are skilled at co-ordinating other consultants and specialists, anticipating issues and managing your build programme to ensure that your project stays on track.

ABOUT US
WILLIAM SHIELDS
B.A(Hons) M.Arch PG Cert RIBA
arch/FORM was co-founded by our Director and Architect, William, in 2022 following 10 years working in Chartered Practices across the East Midlands.
William is an ARB and RIBA Chartered architect and has experience across a variety of sectors such as Residential, Conversions, Listed Buildings, Ecclesiastical, Industrial and Healthcare. However, his specialism is working closely with his clients to ensure that their project is developed into a bespoke solution that truly works for them and their family, whether that be a new home, barn conversion or extension.
William has extensive experience on complex construction projects resolving intricate details to deliver high quality solutions for his clients.
STEPHANIE SHIELDS
Stephanie is Director and co-founder of arch/FORM and has transferred her management and client liaison skills across from her previous roles to manage the day to day operations of the practice, developing the services and products which we can provide to our clients.
